Towards inner peace, stability, and contentment
I'm Wes Harris, a Licensed Professional Counselor in downtown Portland. I offer mindfulness-based individual counseling for adults — and I'm here to support you with whatever challenges you're facing right now.

“I am dedicated to helping people lead rich and meaningful lives. Finding a counselor that you connect with is important.”
Feel free to come and meet with me for 30 minutes or so at no cost before deciding if you would like to continue. It's a chance to talk about what's bringing you in, ask questions, and see whether we're a good fit — no pressure either way.
Give me a call or send me an email to set up a meeting.

I hold a master's degree in professional mental health counseling from Lewis & Clark College and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. I'm also a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
My clinical background includes work with adolescents and adults, with a focus on people navigating mood challenges and looking to improve their overall wellness. I grew up in a number of places on both coasts and now call Portland home.
I bring a passion for mindfulness, meditation, and making meaning in life into my work with clients. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship, and that lasting change happens through attention, compassion, and effort.
Whether you're working through something specific or simply want more ease and direction in your life, we'll go at your pace.
Therapy and psychotherapy with adults — a steady, confidential space to understand what you're going through and move toward what matters to you.
Practical support developing mindfulness skills you can use in daily life — for anxiety, difficult emotions, stress, and the habit of living on autopilot.
Guidance building — or rebuilding — a meditation practice that fits your life, with support for the questions and obstacles that come up along the way.
Those three words are how I think about change. Counseling isn't something done to you — it's something we do together, one honest conversation at a time.
I'm not here to judge, fix, or lecture. I'm here to pay close attention, to help you meet your experience with more kindness, and to support the steady effort it takes to live differently.
Let's talkResearch and experience both say the same thing: the connection between counselor and client is what makes therapy work. That's why the first meeting is free — so you can see whether it feels right.
We practice noticing thoughts, feelings, and sensations as they are, without getting swept away by them. That small gap of awareness is where choice lives.
Feeling better matters, and so does living well. We look at what gives your life meaning and direction, and what's standing in the way.
Sessions are grounded and down to earth. You'll leave with things you can actually use between meetings — not just insight, but practice.
Some people come for a few focused sessions; others stay for deeper, longer-term work. We'll decide together what fits.
Mindfulness is a simple practice with deep roots: bringing your attention to the present moment and meeting whatever you find there with curiosity and kindness.
Most of us spend much of the day lost in thought — replaying the past, rehearsing the future, running on habit. Mindfulness practice gently trains the mind to come back. Over time, that creates more space between what happens and how we respond, and more room for calm, clarity, and contentment.
In our work together, mindfulness can look like:
No prior experience is needed, and there's nothing you have to believe. Just a willingness to practice.
As a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC I) as well as an LPC, I work with people at every stage — whether you're questioning your use, working toward sobriety, or maintaining recovery and wanting more from life.
Substance use rarely exists on its own. It's often tangled up with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma. I treat the whole person, not just the behavior, and mindfulness is a powerful ally here: learning to sit with cravings and difficult feelings without acting on them automatically.
You don't need to hit a bottom or fit a label to talk about it. If you've been wondering whether your drinking or use is getting in the way of the life you want, that's reason enough to come in. The first 30 minutes are free, and there's no commitment.
